A blonde body carrying a red tuxedo marking through the front half. Females reach 5-6cm and are among the hardier of the fancy varieties.
Care
- Water: 22-28°C, pH 6.8-7.8. Very tolerant of hard water, which suits Cape Town tap water well.
- Tank: Minimum 20 litres per guppy, 45cm wide or larger. Heavily planted and well oxygenated.
- Males: Males are territorial towards one another. One male per tank, or space them out with planting that breaks sightlines.
- Diet: Quality flake daily plus live or frozen food. Guppies breed readily on a full diet.
- Breeding: Livebearers, giving birth to free-swimming fry. Separate the young or provide dense planting if you want them to survive.
Females are the larger sex in guppies. If you want the full red marking to show clearly, a male is usually the more striking choice.

DietOmnivore. Good quality flakes as a staple, plus live or frozen food (brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworm) and some vegetable matter. Colour needs variety.
CompatibilityPeaceful with everything, including other females. Females shoal happily in groups and are the safer choice for a community tank.
SetupPlanted, with open water to swim. Hard, alkaline, stable water. A lid - they jump. Gentle flow; they are not strong swimmers.
Care LevelExtremely easy. Regular water changes and stable temperature do almost all of the work.
