A large, impressive tetra from the Congo River. Males develop stunning iridescent colouration and extended central tail rays. Peaceful – best in schools in larger tanks.

DietOmnivorous. Feed quality flakes and pellets with regular frozen foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp plus some vegetable matter. Small feeds 2-3 times daily.
CompatibilityPeaceful and social. Keep in a school of 6 or more of its own kind. Compatible with other medium peaceful fish such as larger tetras, rainbowfish, gouramis and bottom-dwellers. Avoid nano fish that may be intimidated.
SetupLarge, well-planted aquarium with open swimming room and a dark substrate to bring out the males' iridescence. Soft, slightly acidic water, moderate filtration and gentle water movement.
