DietHerbivorous. Feed quality plant-based pellets and flakes plus plenty of vegetable matter: blanched spinach, kale, cucumber, zucchini and spirulina. Supplement with occasional frozen foods. Expect them to graze on live plants.
CompatibilityPeaceful schooler that grows large. Keep in a group of 4 or more of its own kind. Compatible with other robust, medium peaceful fish and larger cichlids. Not a nano-tank fish; avoid small fish that fit in its mouth and aggressive tankmates.
SetupLarge aquarium with generous open swimming space and strong filtration. Subdued lighting with some darker zones. Use robust or artificial plants as live plants are usually eaten. Keep the tank securely covered as they jump.
Care LevelHigh waste producers that need clean, well-oxygenated water. Weekly 25-30% partial water changes, vacuum the substrate and keep filtration strong. Feed twice daily in small portions with plenty of vegetable matter.
Please ensure you can provide a suitable, cycled tank before ordering. Young bettas may mature after arrival.
