Shakthi-Batik Female Guppy

A batik strain, meaning the spotting is reduced to sparse flecks across a solid base rather than the dense speckling of a wild guppy. Females reach 5-6cm.

Care

• Water: 22-28°C, pH 6.8-7.8. Very tolerant of hard water, which suits Cape Town tap water well.
• Tank: Minimum 20 litres per guppy, 45cm wide or larger. Heavily planted and well oxygenated.
• Males: Males are territorial towards one another. One male per tank, or space them out with planting that breaks sightlines.
• Diet: Quality flake daily plus live or frozen food. Guppies breed readily on a full diet.
• Breeding: Livebearers, giving birth to free-swimming fry. Separate the young or provide dense planting if you want them to survive.

Batik patterning shows most clearly on males. Females tend to look plainer and the flecks are finer.
