DietSpecialised flowerhorn pellets as the staple, with occasional frozen or live protein such as bloodworms or chopped shrimp. Feed once or twice daily and avoid overfeeding.
CompatibilityAggressive and territorial. House singly in a species-only tank. Never combine with other cichlids, community fish or tankmates it can dominate.
SetupLarge tank with strong filtration and a heater. Bare bottom or coarse gravel with large ornamental rocks; they rearrange decor to their liking. No fragile plants.
Care LevelHigh-protein diet produces heavy waste. Weekly 30-40% partial water changes and strong biological filtration are mandatory to keep nitrate low and the hump in good condition.
Please ensure you can provide a suitable, cycled tank before ordering. Young bettas may mature after arrival.
