CompatibilityPeaceful dwarf cichlid. Best kept as a pair in a community tank with small tetras, rasboras, Corydoras and dwarf shrimp. Males can be territorial towards other Apistogramma — keep one pair per tank unless the tank is large.
SetupSoft, slightly acidic water with plants, driftwood, leaf litter and caves. Gentle filtration with low flow. Dense planting with open areas; stable temperatures are important.
Care LevelSensitive to water quality — weekly 20-25% partial water changes with stable soft, acidic parameters. Avoid sudden swings. Quarantine new fish and feed small, high-quality foods.
