DietOmnivore — quality flake or pellet plus frozen and live foods like bloodworm and brine shrimp. Also grazes algae and vegetable matter. Feed once or twice daily.
CompatibilityGenerally peaceful but males can be territorial with each other — keep one male or a larger group in a big tank. Good with tetras, rasboras, Corydoras and other robust community fish. Avoid fin-nippers like tiger barbs.
SetupLeave a gap between the water surface and the lid — they need warm, humid air for their labyrinth organ. Provide plants and open swimming space with moderate flow.
Care LevelWeekly partial water changes of 25%. Very hardy when water is clean and stable. Like all gouramis they breathe air at the surface — leave a gap between the water and the lid.
Please ensure you can provide a suitable, cycled tank before ordering. Young bettas may mature after arrival.
