Red Pineapple Male Guppy

Red Pineapple males blend from an orange head into a deep red tail, with the fine scale patterning that gives the strain its name.

Care

• Water: 22-28°C, pH 6.8-7.8. Very tolerant of hard water, which suits Cape Town tap water well.
• Tank: Minimum 20 litres per guppy, 45cm wide or larger. Heavily planted and well oxygenated.
• Males: Males are territorial towards one another. One male per tank, or space them out with planting that breaks sightlines.
• Diet: Quality flake daily plus live or frozen food. Guppies breed readily on a full diet.
• Breeding: Livebearers, giving birth to free-swimming fry. Separate the young or provide dense planting if you want them to survive.

Colour deepens with age and a varied diet. Males spar over territory, so keep one male per tank or space them with planting.
