Tiger Male Guppy

Named for the dark reticulated pattern running along the flanks, which reads as tiger stripes. Males carry a long flowing tail and reach about 5cm.

Care

• Water: 22-28°C, pH 6.8-7.8. Very tolerant of hard water, which suits Cape Town tap water well.
• Tank: Minimum 20 litres per guppy, 45cm wide or larger. Heavily planted and well oxygenated.
• Males: Males are territorial towards one another. One male per tank, or space them out with planting that breaks sightlines.
• Diet: Quality flake daily plus live or frozen food. Guppies breed readily on a full diet.
• Breeding: Livebearers, giving birth to free-swimming fry. Separate the young or provide dense planting if you want them to survive.

Tiger males are active and territorial towards other males. Keep one male per tank, or keep them well spaced with planting to break sightlines.
