DifficultyBeginner-Intermediate
Temperature22-26 C
pH6.5-7.5
GH4-8 dGH
KH2-5 dKH
TDS100-200 ppm
Min Tank Size10+ litres
DietOmnivorous scavengers — algae, biofilm, and supplemental shrimp-specific foods. Blanched vegetables and leaf litter provide grazing material.
CompatibilityPeaceful. Best kept in species-only tanks or with very small, peaceful fish (e.g., microrasboras, otocinclus). Most fish will eat shrimp or their babies.
SetupSetting up a shrimp tank:Mature Tank Shrimp do best in mature, established tanks with stable parameters. Let the tank run for 4-8 weeks before adding shrimp.Planting Heavily planted with mosses, java fern, and floating plants. Moss provides grazing surface for baby shrimp.Substrate Active shrimp substrate buffers pH. Inert sand also works.Filtration Sponge filter is ideal — shrimp are sensitive to currents and babies can be sucked into other filters.
Care LevelShrimp care:Water Quality Shrimp are very sensitive to ammonia and nitrite. Stable parameters are critical. Drip acclimate all new shrimp.Feeding Supplement with shrimp-specific foods 2-3 times weekly. Don't overfeed.Breeding Most neocaridina shrimp breed readily in good conditions. Providing moss and leaf litter increases baby survival.Health Molting issues from poor water parameters. Maintain stable GH and KH for successful molting.

Please ensure you can provide a suitable, cycled tank before ordering. Young bettas may mature after arrival.
